State of the district update
Bumped into one the veteran beat cops at the Market today. In response to my query about safety/crime trends, he’s observing a statistical and perceptual decline in crime in the historical market area since the evolutionary and discontinuous commercial and residential development here. It’s the story of the self-reinforcing cycle: development leading to more foot traffic, leading to more perceptions of safety, leading to more commerce and resident influx, leading to more development, leading again to … the ecological eovlution toward more sustainability.
