Manitoo

In Ojibway, manitoo means spirit and mystery (thanks Chris).

One example of manitoo happens when I’ll be out somewhere, at the market or at an art opening, or walking around a hospital I’m working at. I’ll send out a slight smile to someone whose eye connects briefly with mine. It’s interesting to see how each face reveals a specific quality of consciousness. If you have a smile practice, you may notice how a smile is a simple invitation to share consciousness in a wordless, palpable way. It’s a transmission of energy at a basic level.

In the moments when someone’s face lights up with a resonating smile … that is manitoo, for sure.

    mmmm… yes!
and for me, it’s the twinkle in the eye that accompanies that smile that sends me spinning with delight and connection.

    thanks,
