Future/together

Over sushi and Argentinian wine last night, my buddy and organization development master Tom Carlson comments that one of the purposes of creating a vision of the future together is to create richer relationships in the present. And though he said it with the nonchalance of please pass the wasabi peas, I think it has profound implications. It followed on the heels of my observation that our imagined future is not a futile exercise in speculation, but rather a lens through which we can more clearly see new possibilities in the present.

On a macro scale, it translates into inquiries like, What is our vision for the future of our planet? And, given this picture, In what new ways would we need to interact to bring that about?
