Purse koan
They’ve probably been trendy for awhile, but I’ve been noticing the tiny handbag more. I have no idea if they open and carry anything but they seem stylish enough.
So my inner cultural anthropologist went online in search of the sociology of handbags and learned that, according to one article, Close-fitting bags are a great look if you’re svelte and want to show off cleavage; not so great if your arms and bust are too large. How to tell if a shoulderbag is right for you? Try on the bag. If it feels cramped under your arm and constantly hits your breast, it’s not for you. A shoulder bag’s length (where the bottom of the bag hits your body) will accentuate whatever part of the body it comes near.
Which inspires a zen handbag koan: How do you wear your handbag when you want to accentuate your mind?

LOL! I’ve been told before that I should wear a bag over my head…this sheds a whole new light on that suggestion!

In my humble opinion (and they are many
, those “stylish” purses will come and go. They hold the bare essentials, but, as you said, they tuck under an arm and accentuate ‘whatever’.
I am a bag hound. I am forever on the hunt for “the perfect bag”: I have them in every size, from credit-card sized (I kid you not!) to almost suitcase-sized. I try to pick the bag from my closet for my needs. (The tiny one is for wandering through casinos or other polaces where all I need is my ID and emergency debit card).
Yet, none seem to be fashion-oriented. I am the poster girl for “fashion-don’t”, and that doesn’t bother me! I am pleased to attempt cohesion with my “tools” - none of which would ever make anyone say, “I love your designer bag”. More often than not, my designer is me… or Goodwill
