iBookG4

JackZen is now being published from a brand spankin’ new iBook. It’s a world of difference from the countless PC products and MS environments I’ve had since my first computer ever in the ’80’s - yes, an Apple 2C 80/86. My key chain has more memory than the 2C with its tiny little green screen and very pre-mouse arrow navigation.

The whole package is inspired and elegant in every sense of the word. Like its European design cousins, the iBook reminds us of why beauty in any genre needs to be an aesthetic imperative in whatever we choose for our world.

Congratulations. I can picture you on your patio drinking an ice cold beer, typing on your beautiful new machine. (I’m on the sofa typing on my PowerBook G$ 12-inch).

Thanks Anton - can always count on you being at the head of the aesthetic curve. I think/find that being a writer and having good aesthetic sense go hand in hand.Actually, right now it’s scotch (Dewars) on the deck on a gorgeous summer night.

If even you succumbed to the Mac ibook pressure, what hope is there for me?

There is always hope for you Steve :) My shift to Mac was not a conversion, simply a choice in the moment based on my commitment to the Bodhisattva vow of “my happiness and the happiness of all beings.” The key is non-attachment.

Can we test your non-attachment? Can I take the ‘puter away from you? ;)

    Congrats— it’s a beautiful new baby ;)

The true test of attachment and non-attachment is not what we have or lack, what we get or give away, but the realization that happiness is a matter of being,, not having (or lacking).
