Compatiblizers

Working with a technology team today, I suggested an approach to a problem formula where some ingredients may not be mixing together, resulting in product quality issues. I asked if there was a third element that could be introduced into the chemistry to facilitate the mixing.

Indeed there is. They’re chemical molecule chains called compatiblizers designed so each end connects naturally to each of the mix-resistant elements (think: oil/water). The net results is that everything works because everything’s connected.

A great metaphor for a key element in social networks - people who act together as compatiblizers in diverse communities looking for better connections.

    Great analogy! Useful too.

Is that the same principle as being a catalyst or a hub?

We call such people “bridge people” when they connect two different groups but this is a little different….someone who is able to get people with different perspectives to listen to each other, notice what each other is doing, what each other needs?

I think so June. It would imply that some bridge people are also compatiblizers.
