The benefits of courage
This is a snippet from a conversation I overheard today: The problem is we have an executive director who isn’t doing the job and the board isn’t addressing it.
Honest feedback always seems like it has a cost but the illusion is usally that the cost exceeds the benefit. As soon as ego is no longer an issue, illusion is also no longer an issue.

Though not knowing the context, is there a clear understanding between all those involved of what the “job” is, or can there be?

That is such a true question. It’s a classic scenario. And yes, to your point, if the board lacks clarity and alignment, it is ingenuine to claim that the “job” is not being done.

Jack - I didn’t see you at my meeting Thursday, how did you hear that?
