It’s about change

We produced a great economic development conference for local and national practitioners here this week. In the process, it became more apparent to me that economic development is one set of issues within the whole cloth having to do with change. What we need to be after is a systemic rather than fragmented approach to change, where we’re working on multiple levels of cultural, economic, social, educational, institutional, architectural, technological, and spiritual change.

That’s why change requires critical mass of leaders - those who are committed to helping build the community’s capacity for innovation and resilience.

It was particularly gratifying to see people get the idea that in order for people to connect in more significant ways, they need to be inspiring themselves with bigger (read: impossible) dreams.
