The prime job of leader

I’m in the middle of teaching the Executive MBA Residency at Kent State. It’s on the hard-soft stuff of leadership communication. It’s a great group who have come with a passion for learning.

I see it, and in that being obvious to me, I wonder how obvious it is to their companies. So many organizations I’ve worked with over the years both fail to see passion for learning, and even if they did, they would be unsure of how to engage it.

Every organization has daily opportunities to identify, engage, and inspire the passionate for learning. It doesn’t matter what kind of learning - any kind! It is after all the prime job of leader to notice and enagage and inspire people as learners.
