Meta-skills
I’m working on a list of meta-skills. These are core skills we have by age 8 on which all other skills are developed and engaged. The list:
Presence - Seeing things as they are
Intention - Being clear on what attracts us
Inquiry - Curiosity & research
Imagination - Creating new possibilities
Transparency - Telling our story honestly
Timing - Doing the right things at the right time
Learning - Discovering distinctions and patterns
Delight - Enjoying what we enjoy.
An education process would create the space for the development of these 8 core meta-skills. Then every new skill would be some combination of these 8, just as every piece of music is crafted from 8 core notes.
To grow is to realize and engage our meta-skills in new contexts.
