The latest member of the endagered species list
America has now a new milestone: there are more women living without a husband than with one. As more women rely on Rent-A-Husband and similar services, the old feminist adage begins to come true: a woman without a husband is like a fish without a bicycle.
Maybe the role of husband, a social experiment for a few millennia, is inclining (or reclining) toward reinvention or extinction. In any case, perhaps it’s a sociological metaphor for how we need to reinvent love on both sides of the gender equation from “love me for what I do for you” to “love me for who I am.”
