Worry

There is a Buddhist vow we recite twice weekly at the SouthCoast Meditation Group suggesting that we “let go of all worries and anxieties.”

It doesn’t take much to picture future risks in any venue. The alternative to worry is visualizing the best attractive outcomes. Worry is visualizing the worst, based on the logic that preparing for the worst is the best way to create an optimum future. Unfortunately, it’s a defensive posture that makes it less and less possible to see new possibilities and opportunities. Visualizing the best, as it turns out, becomes a vibrant lens that illuminates opportunities that cannot be seen in the darkness created by worry.
