Our undivided nature

In the conversation after meditation this morning, Mark and I mused over the social fiction of separateness, the division of reality into subject and object that, from a Zen perspective, forms the basis for all forms of fear and conflict. The only way out is becoming awareness of the whole. Paradoxically, trying to “do” anything only perpetuates the separateness of reality into the subject of desiring and the object of the desired. And as Eckhart Tolle writes so well about, just coming to awareness of subject and object transcends us above the duality and returns us back to our true undivided nature.

The good news is that when our energy isn’t engaged in conflict, our possibility eyes open and all becomes clear.
