Corporate praise for poets
According to the NY Times today, CEO’s have a bias for non-business books in their vast libraries of intellectual capital, preferring instead literature, fiction, history, science, and poetry.
Sidney Harmon, CEO of a $3 billion luxury sound systems company, says, “I used to tell my senior staff to get me poets as managers … Poets are our original systems thinkers. They look at our most complex environments and they reduce the complexity to something they begin to understand.”
