Living/dying/living
My friend Cathy called tonight reporting that our mutual friend Pat died about a half-hour ago. We visited with her recently in hospice and it was a moving testimonial to the power of the spirit to live a life that others refer to as dying.
It’s a stark reminder that birth marks the first moment of dying. Life is dying; dying is life. When the distinction collapses, an infinite space calls us to play.

It was March 24th last year that our good friend, Judith Buerkel passed. I learned much about life and dying from Judith. Judith’s life force filled a room even as she was dying. To Life!

I just learned that my first hospice patient passed away on the 25th. I hadn’t seen him or his wife since October. I am saddened to learn of his passing, but know that he was at peace with his life and illness. To me, life is life…dying does happen within the life, and then that life moves through us informing our futures with the beauty of knowing those who have died.
