My dear cousin Shelley put in a way I love: I am not my feelings; they are not me. I treat them as honored guests that come and go as I experience them. "I feel tired." "I feel elated." "I feel sick." "I feel bored." Rather than I AM tired, elated, sick, bored or any other temporary and exaggerated those things. I am none of those things, but they are all of me.

This helps me embrace detachment.
